Who does He want to be to me?

As I travel through this life, mile after mile and day after day I ponder. I can sit somewhere moments after a conversation or a simple statement is made and swing like a happy monkey from one subject to another quickly dropping one vine while reaching for another and then after thinking my way through 8 or ten degrees from where I started, something will grab my attention and hold it. At which time, I will sometimes make a comment out loud to the unsuspecting person from the original conversation only to be faced with a confused and perplexed look as they did not follow me through the jungle of thought.
This particular time, as I grow in my relationship with God, after we have been through some struggles together and I have finally, for the first time maybe- actually come to a place of joy. It is better than I ever dreamed it to be and I feel a closeness that I didn't know was possible, and this train of thought and the planning of wanting this blog to be something that would minister to others- brought me to the question of- Who does God want to be in my life?
I started thinking of a list and as I spent more time, I have come to the conclusion that possibly there is an infinite number of roles that He wants to have- but the bottom line is, He wants to be exactly what we need exactly when we need it, but here are a few that came to mind in my pondering...
My friend-
There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24b
My Savior-
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
My Security-
Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. Psalm 16:1
My Focus-
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him. Lamentations 3:25
My Strength-
“The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Exodus 15:2
My Comfort-
For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:5
My Peace-
The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11
My Life-
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
It is my prayer to be seeking Him and to see Him waiting with open arms for everything that I need. It is also my prayer to be able to convey this to others in their time of need. Looks like it's time for some memory work. I hope that you will join me in hiding His word in our hearts.
Have a great day and we'll ride together soon. Shotgun is still open if you want to call it!
